Over thirty five years ago Trevor Palmer qualified from the Cordwainers Technical College, London, and embarked on an exciting career learning all aspects of the leather goods trade. Overseas work advising companies from as far a field as Outer Mongolia to Trinidad created an affinity with a variety of people and cultures. Having worked with high volume manufacturers in the Far East and with organisations in some of the most under developed parts of the world, Trevor felt that the powers of big business and commercial forces were doing little to improve the working environment, not only for the labour directly involved in manufacturing the leather goods but for those unfortunate enough to reside and work the land in the vicinities of the tanneries. This is due to the ever-increasing need to produce competitive leather which prohibits the tanneries from using safe treatments and from investing in efficient effluent systems to protect the environment and those employed in the processing.

During the past thirty years Trevor has taken on several voluntary advisory assignments helping organisations in a number of countries to further the concept of sustainable development in the leather goods sector. Unfortunately, due to a medical condition, Trevor's freedom to travel is now restricted so he has developed the Globaleather product range in conjunction with organisations that he has worked with and which support proper training, ethical employment practices and help improve local capabilities. The enhancement of the quality of life of the communities involved with the manufacture of Globaleather products is central to the company's philosophy.

Trevor's Wales-based company, GLCC Ltd., has now been trading for over twelve years. Major international retailers are now being supplied with ethically manufactured products, which show a positive move in the right direction.

Specialist products, including the ethically produced Globaleather wheelchair gloves and various wheelchair bags, have been developed as a result of Trevor's experience as a wheelchair user. The success of the gloves has inspired Trevor to develop new styles of gloves using the latest material technology and to investigate innovative products for the wheelchair users which can be found in this online GL100 catalogue.

The introduction of heated clothing and accessories has further enhanced the companies commitment to innovation and product development.
